Frequently Asked Questions

Is my first click ever a guaranteed mine?

No — the mines are placed only after your first click, deliberately avoiding that cell and its immediate neighbors, so your first click is always guaranteed safe. This matches the standard convention used by most classic Minesweeper implementations.

What do the numbers on revealed cells mean?

Each number tells you how many of the up-to-8 surrounding cells contain a mine. A blank (empty) revealed cell means zero adjacent mines — those automatically "flood fill" and reveal their neighboring cells too, since there's no ambiguity about safety around them.

How do I flag a suspected mine?

Right-click (or long-press on touch devices) any unrevealed cell to place or remove a flag — flagged cells can't be accidentally revealed with a left-click until you unflag them, which helps you track your mine-location theories as you deduce the board.

How many mines are on the board?

This version uses a 9×9 grid with 10 mines — the classic "Beginner" difficulty configuration from the original Windows Minesweeper, a good balance of solvable-by-logic puzzles without being trivially easy.
