Frequently Asked Questions

How is the win probability calculated?

The calculator runs a Monte Carlo simulation — it deals out 5,000 random simulated hands (five community cards plus two random hole cards per opponent from the remaining deck), evaluates the best 5-card poker hand for you and each opponent every time, and reports what fraction of simulations you won, tied, or lost.

Why use simulation instead of an exact formula?

Exact pre-flop equity calculations for multi-opponent Hold'em require enumerating an enormous number of card combinations, which gets computationally expensive fast as opponent count rises. A 5,000-hand simulation converges to within roughly 1-2 percentage points of the true equity, which is accurate enough for practical decision-making while running instantly in your browser.

Why does win probability drop as I add opponents?

Every additional opponent gives one more hand a chance to beat yours by showdown — even a strong starting hand like pocket Aces wins less often against 7 opponents than against 1, since the more random hands are in play, the higher the chance at least one of them improves enough to beat you.

Does this account for betting strategy?

No — this calculates raw card equity (how often your hand wins if all players saw the river with no folding), not overall win-rate accounting for betting, position, or opponent tendencies. It's a starting-hand strength reference, not a full strategy solver.
