Frequently Asked Questions
How do you capture discs in Reversi?
Place a disc so that it forms a straight line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) with another disc of your color, sandwiching one or more of the opponent's discs in between — all sandwiched discs flip to your color immediately after you place your piece.
Why are only some squares clickable?
Reversi only allows moves that actually flip at least one opponent disc — squares highlighted in a lighter green are your legal moves this turn; squares that wouldn't capture anything aren't playable, matching official Reversi/Othello rules.
What happens if a player has no legal moves?
That player's turn is automatically skipped and passes back to the opponent, which this tool handles automatically — if neither player has any legal move left, or the board fills completely, the game ends and the player with more discs wins.
How does the computer opponent play?
The computer (White) prioritizes taking corner squares when available, since corners can never be flipped back and are the strongest strategic positions in Reversi — otherwise it picks whichever legal move flips the most of your discs.
