Frequently Asked Questions
How does the keyword search work?
Each emoji is tagged with a set of common search keywords (e.g. 🔥 is tagged "fire hot lit flame") and the search box filters against those keywords as you type, not just the emoji's formal Unicode name.
Where is the recently-used list stored?
In your browser's localStorage, under a single key scoped to this site — it never leaves your device and isn't tied to an account, so it's specific to this browser.
What happens when I click an emoji?
It's copied straight to your clipboard via the Clipboard API and added to the top of your recently-used list, ready to paste anywhere.
Why don't I see every possible emoji?
This tool ships a curated set of commonly used emoji rather than the full Unicode emoji set (1,800+ and growing), to keep the picker fast and the keyword tagging accurate and genuinely useful.
Will the emoji render the same on every device?
Not necessarily — emoji glyphs are rendered by your operating system's font, so the same Unicode character can look slightly different on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, even though the underlying character copied is identical.
