Hunting through your OS’s built-in emoji picker for the right one, or scrolling a long grid one-by-one, is slower than it should be. This tool lets you search by plain-English keyword and copy with a single click.
What Is the Emoji Picker?
A searchable, browsable grid of commonly used emoji. Type a keyword like “fire”, “cat”, or “heart” to filter instantly, or browse the full grid. Click any emoji to copy it to your clipboard, and your most recently used emoji are pinned at the top for quick reuse.
How to Use It
- Open the tool at /tools/emoji-picker.
- Type a keyword into the search box, or scroll the default grid.
- Click an emoji to copy it — it’s added to your “Recently used” row.
- Paste it anywhere.
Key Features
- Keyword search, matching against tagged descriptive terms, not just formal Unicode names.
- One-click copy via the Clipboard API.
- Recently used list, saved in your browser’s localStorage so it persists between visits.
- Runs entirely client-side — no emoji data or search terms are sent anywhere.
When to Use This Tool
- Writing commit messages, PR descriptions, or Slack messages that benefit from a quick visual marker.
- Finding a specific emoji fast without scrolling through your OS picker.
- Building documentation or changelogs with consistent emoji conventions (✅, ⚠️, 🚀, etc.).
