Frequently Asked Questions

Does this call an AI to write my commit message?

No. It assembles the message from the form fields you fill in (type, scope, description, body bullets, breaking change note, footer) following the Conventional Commits format — no external calls are made.

What does checking Breaking change actually add?

It appends a BREAKING CHANGE: footer with the text you enter, and adds a ! after the type/scope in the header line, matching the Conventional Commits spec for breaking changes.

Can I skip the scope?

Yes. Scope is optional — leaving it blank produces a header like feat: add search bar instead of feat(search): add search bar.

How are body bullet points formatted?

Each non-empty line you enter in the body field becomes its own '- ' prefixed bullet in the generated commit body, separated from the header by a blank line.

Does it validate my commit type against the Conventional Commits list?

The type field is a fixed dropdown (feat, fix, docs, style, refactor, perf, test, chore, build, ci), so only those recognized types can be selected.
