Frequently Asked Questions
Which letter point values does this use?
The standard English-language Scrabble tile values: 1 point for common letters (A, E, I, O, U, and others), up to 10 points for the rarest (Q and Z) — the same distribution used in the official North American and international Scrabble sets.
Does it account for double/triple letter score tiles on the board?
Not automatically — only whole-word double/triple multipliers are provided as checkboxes, since individual letter-tile bonuses depend on exactly where each letter lands on a specific physical board, which this tool doesn't model.
What happens with spaces or non-letter characters?
Spaces are ignored (useful for scoring multi-word plays), and characters like numbers or punctuation are skipped in the score total since they don't correspond to a Scrabble tile.
Is this the same scoring used in Words With Friends?
No — Words With Friends uses a different letter point distribution than official Scrabble, so scores calculated here won't match a Words With Friends game exactly.
