How to Use the Dice Roller — WebdevToolbox Guide

Roll one or more dice of any common type (d4-d100) or a custom side count, using cryptographically strong randomness, with a running roll history and total.

Whether you’re running a tabletop RPG session remotely, settling a quick decision, or just need a fair random number generator, physical dice aren’t always handy — and plenty of online dice rollers quietly use low-quality randomness under the hood. This one uses the same cryptographically strong random source used for security-sensitive values.

What Is the Dice Roller?

Pick a die type (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d100, or a fully custom side count), choose how many dice to roll at once, and click Roll — you’ll see each individual result plus the summed total, with your last 10 rolls kept in a running history below.

How to Use It

  1. Open the tool at /tools/dice-roller.
  2. Choose a die type, or select “Custom…” to set any number of sides.
  3. Set how many dice to roll at once (up to 20).
  4. Click “Roll” to see the individual results and total.
  5. Check the roll history below to review your last 10 rolls.

Key Features

  • Full standard polyhedral dice set — d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100, plus any custom side count from 2 to 1000.
  • Cryptographically strong randomness via crypto.getRandomValues, rather than the weaker Math.random().
  • Multiple dice at once — roll up to 20 dice in a single click and see the summed total.
  • Persistent roll history for the current session, so you can review past rolls during a game.

When to Use This Tool

  • Playing a tabletop RPG session (Dungeons & Dragons and similar systems) online or when physical dice aren’t available.
  • Making a quick, fair random decision between a small number of options.
  • Running simple probability simulations or demonstrations that need trustworthy randomness.

Try It Now

Open Dice Roller directly, or press ⌘K and type the tool name from anywhere on the site.
