Populating a test database or mocking an API response usually means hand-typing a dozen fake records or reaching for a library. This tool generates a configurable batch of realistic-looking JSON test data in your browser.
What Is the Mock Data Generator?
Define a field schema — name, email, city, company, dates, booleans, numbers, and more — and generate any number of fake JSON records built from small sample lists, with an optional seed for reproducible output.
How to Use It
- Open the tool at /tools/mock-data-generator.
- Add, remove, or rename fields and pick a data type for each one.
- Set how many records you want (up to 500) and optionally a seed for reproducibility.
- Copy the generated JSON or download it as a
.jsonfile.
Key Features
- 15 field types including names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, UUIDs, booleans, numbers, dates, and short text.
- Reproducible output — the same seed plus the same field configuration always regenerates identical data.
- Fully configurable schema — add as many fields as you need, in any order.
- Direct download as a
.jsonfile, or copy straight to your clipboard.
When to Use This Tool
- Populating a development database with realistic-looking placeholder records.
- Mocking an API response for frontend development before a real backend endpoint exists.
- Generating reproducible fixtures for automated tests using a fixed seed.
