How to Use the SQLite Viewer — WebdevToolbox Guide

Upload a .db/.sqlite file, browse its tables, and run SQL queries entirely in your browser.

WebdevToolbox Team3 min read

Someone hands you a .sqlite file and you just want to peek inside — no DB Browser install, no sqlite3 CLI. This tool loads the real SQLite engine as WebAssembly directly in your browser tab, so you can browse tables and run SQL immediately.

What Is the SQLite Viewer?

SQLite Viewer is one of the tools in WebdevToolbox’s SQL Tools category. Upload a .db/.sqlite/.sqlite3 file and it’s loaded into an in-memory SQLite database (via sql.js, SQLite compiled to WebAssembly), so you can browse its tables and run arbitrary SQL against it.

How to Use It

  1. Open the tool at /tools/sqlite-viewer.
  2. Click “Upload .db / .sqlite file” and select your database.
  3. Click a table name in the sidebar to preview its rows, or write your own SQL query.
  4. Press Ctrl/Cmd+Enter or click “Run query” to execute.

Key Features

  • Real SQLite, not a simulation — sql.js compiles the actual SQLite C source to WebAssembly, so every SQL feature you’d expect works.
  • Full read/write SQL — SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, and even CREATE TABLE all work against the in-memory copy.
  • Table browser sidebar — click any table to instantly preview its first 100 rows.
  • 100% private — the file is read locally; it’s never uploaded to a server.

When to Use the SQLite Viewer

  • Inspecting a SQLite file someone sent you without installing a database browser.
  • Debugging local app data — many mobile apps, Electron apps, and dev tools store data in SQLite.
  • Quick ad-hoc queries — run a one-off SELECT without setting up a full database client.

Try It Now

Open SQLite Viewer directly from anywhere on the site using ⌘K and typing the tool name.
