How to Use the CSS Text Shadow Generator — WebdevToolbox Guide

Visually build single or multi-layer CSS text-shadow values with live preview, adjustable offset/blur/color per layer, and copyable CSS.

Multi-layer text-shadow effects (like a subtle drop shadow plus a highlight) can be fiddly to tune by hand with comma-separated values. This tool lets you build each layer visually and see the combined result update live.

What Is the CSS Text Shadow Generator?

Add one or more shadow layers, each with its own X/Y offset, blur, and color, and the tool combines them into a single text-shadow CSS declaration with a live preview of your sample text — plus a text color picker so you can see the effect against realistic text.

How to Use It

  1. Open the tool at /tools/text-shadow-generator.
  2. Adjust the first shadow layer’s offset, blur, and color.
  3. Click Add shadow layer to stack additional layers (e.g. a shadow plus a highlight).
  4. Copy the generated text-shadow and color CSS.

Key Features

  • Multi-layer support, combining any number of shadow layers into one comma-separated text-shadow value.
  • Live visual preview, updating instantly as you adjust any field.
  • Semi-transparent color support, using 8-digit hex or rgba() for soft, realistic shadows.
  • Copy-ready CSS output, including both the shadow and the text color.

When to Use This Tool

  • Designing hero text or headings that need a subtle depth effect.
  • Building a neon/glow text effect using multiple overlapping colored layers.
  • Prototyping typography styles without writing CSS by hand.
