Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stack multiple shadow layers on the same text?
Yes — CSS text-shadow natively supports comma-separated shadow layers, and this tool lets you add, edit, and remove as many layers as you want, combining them into one text-shadow declaration.
What do the X offset, Y offset, and blur values control?
They map directly to the three length values in the text-shadow property: horizontal offset, vertical offset, and blur radius, in that order, for each layer — positive X moves the shadow right, positive Y moves it down.
Can I use semi-transparent colors for a softer shadow?
Yes — the color field accepts any valid CSS color syntax, including 8-digit hex with an alpha channel (e.g. #00000066) or rgba(), which is exactly what the default two-layer example uses for a subtle drop-shadow-plus-highlight effect.
Does the preview update live as I change values?
Yes — every layer field, the text content, and the text color update the live preview and the generated CSS output immediately.
Is text-shadow supported in all modern browsers?
Yes — text-shadow has been supported in all major browsers for a very long time (well before CSS3 was finalized), so there's no compatibility concern for typical production use.
